There Is No Single National Minimum Wage

Unlike countries with one federal wage floor, the Philippines assigns wage-setting to 17 Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) under Republic Act No. 6727, the Wage Rationalization Act. Each board studies local cost-of-living data and issues its own wage order on its own timeline, so a worker's legal minimum depends entirely on which region — and sometimes which province, city, or sector — they work in.

Rule of thumb: always check the wage order for the specific region where the work is performed, not where the company is headquartered. A Manila-based company with a branch in Davao must pay the Davao rate to staff working there.

Scheduled Increases Ahead

Several 2026 wage orders phase in over multiple tranches. NCR rises again to ₱780/day (non-agriculture) on January 20, 2027. Davao Region steps up to ₱540/day on September 1, 2026. Bicol steps up to ₱480/day on December 1, 2026. Always check whether a scheduled increase has taken effect before running payroll.

Converting Daily Rate to Monthly Pay

For monthly-paid employees, a common estimate multiplies the daily rate by roughly 26 paid days per month (accounting for a 6-day work week including regular holidays as paid days). At the NCR rate of ₱755/day, that comes out to about ₱19,630/month. This is an approximation — the exact number of paid days depends on the calendar year and company policy, so use it as a planning figure rather than a payroll-exact one.

Note on sectors: the rates above are the region's headline non-agriculture figure. Agriculture, retail/service establishments with fewer than 10 workers, and some manufacturing categories often have a lower tiered rate under the same wage order — check the specific wage order PDF for your sector.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there one national minimum wage in the Philippines?

No. Under Republic Act No. 6727, each of the 17 Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) sets and adjusts its own daily minimum wage through its own wage order, on its own schedule. There is no single figure that applies nationwide.

Which region has the highest minimum wage in 2026?

The National Capital Region (NCR) has the highest daily minimum wage at ₱755 for non-agriculture work under Wage Order No. NCR-27, effective July 25, 2026, with a further increase to ₱780 scheduled for January 20, 2027.

How do I convert a daily minimum wage to a monthly amount?

A common estimate multiplies the daily rate by 26 paid days a month (used for monthly-paid employees under a 6-day work week). For example, ₱755/day × 26 ≈ ₱19,630/month. Employers with different work week structures may compute this differently, so always confirm against your company's payroll policy.
